The Heart & Sole of Easter

The Son Will Come Out, TOMBorrow

Evel Knievel has looked death in the face numerous times. People facing capital punishment have been exonerated just days before receiving a lethal injection. Someone who literally dies momentarily can be brought back to life by modern medicine marvels. But has anyone ever conquered death? Has anyone ever taken death head on and defeated it?

2.1 Billion people answer yes. They, along with those who have invited you to this blog, believe a man has reigned victoriously over life’s final call. His name is Yahweh. His name is Messiah. His name is Jesus Christ of Nazareth. And He has defeated death.

Now, let’s state the obvious. For someone to come back from the dead, they must first die. This man definitely accomplished this criteria. As an innocent man, he hung on a cross as the life dripped from his body like the blood coming out of his nail punctured hands. He was believed to be the Son of God, sent by His Father to rescue the entire world — past present and future — from the evil that consumed them and their lives. Before He could defeat death, He had to first conquer this evil (also known as sin). In doing this, the promise was that anyone who believed that this sacrifice had been made was to be given eternal life — a life in a place called Heaven where there is no pain, there is no fear, there is no sadness or brokeness or depression. A paradise with God, our Creator, that lasts forever.

This act paved the way for the greatest show of power this world has ever experienced. After Jesus was crucified, His body was laid to rest in a tomb. The tomb was then guarded by two men and a HUUUUUGE stone was rolled in front of the entrance to keep anyone from tampering with the body. On the third day after his burial, compassionate followers of Jesus went to dress up the tomb with spices and fresh linens. As they approached the burial site, they saw that the guards were gone and the stone that no one man could move on his own had been rolled away from the entrance. The resurrected Jesus appeared to a handful of people over the next few days and then returned home to dwell with His Pops in Heaven. No one could believe their eyes. The same man they watched take His last breath hanging from a tree was now living and breathing three days after His lifeless body was laid to rest. Why were they so awe struck, you ask?

BECAUSE HE HAD BEASTED DEATH!!! He even looked the grim reaper square in the eyes and said I LOVE YOU and I DIED FOR YOU and I HAVE CONQUERED DEATH FOR YOU!

Unfortunately, the Easter holiday has become a time for chocolate bunnies and other awkward candy covered animals. But the victory Jesus had over the grave is the true reason for a celebration. He did not die to prove how macho He was. He didn’t say, “Hey yall, watch this” as He rolled the stone away and laughed at His haters. Nope, He gave up His body as a sacrifice. He died so that we might live. He rose so that we can have faith in a God so powerful that not even death can touch Him.

So when you see Mr. Knievel jumping over a herd of tour busses or if you yourself are the next medical miracle, remember the most manly man that ever walked this planet. He took on death. And He won.

If you have any comments, questions, concerns or even just a good joke or something, feel free to post it on here. There is a button at the top of the page that says “ask.” We would LOVE to hear from you, and if you feel comfortable leaving your contact information we would love to get in touch with you. We, as believers, found it necessary to try and bring back the essence of this once sacred Holiday. We are not here to condemn anyone who disagrees with our viewpoint and we certainly do not want to start a debate abyss that never seems to end. All we are merely doing is sharing something that we believe is truth and something that we believe can change your life, now and forever.
